The Grand Valley Lions club was chartered by the Orangeville Lions club in 1951 and since then, the Grand Valley Lions have sponsored the Dundalk Lions club in 1973 and the Marsville Lions club in 1975. We are also the sponsor for the 85 Tornado Squadron Air Cadets and helped form the Grand Valley Fire Department in 1952. Many of the Grand Valley Lions were also members of the fire department.
In recent years, we have sponsored Grand Valley Minor Hockey, Soccer and Minor Softball plus working for and donated funds for the Skatepark, Splashpad, and the Orangeville and Fergus Hospitals. Our Krispe Kreme donut and Butterfly Release fundraisers were extremely popular and raised funds for the Air cadets, Grand Valley Food Bank and Minor Hockey.
The Grand Valley Lions meet for regular meetings, (pre covid) September through to June on the first Wednesday of each month at the Knox Presbyterian Church. Meetings start promptly at 7:00. We are always looking for volunteers to help with our many projects. Call 519-943-5471 if you are interested in attending a meeting. We look forward to seeing you and working together!
We are part of Lions Clubs International which recently celebrated (1917 – 2017) celebrated 100 years of service. Our 46000 clubs and 1.4 million members makes us the world’s largest service club organization. We are also one of the most effective. Our members do whatever is needed to help their local communities. Everywhere we work, we make friends. With children who need eyeglasses, with seniors who don’t have enough to eat and with people we may never meet.
